Eucharist & Lunch
Eucharist and lunch is held on the 1st Wednesday of the month, except for January, in the chapel at the Seafarers’ Centre.
In December, we have been observing St. Nicholas’ Day and hold the Eucharist and lunch at a church so that we can have a larger gathering. Check the calendar for details.
All are welcome to attend, and most of those who attend volunteer at the Mission.
During the Eucharist, we pray for the Port of Thunder Bay: Thunder Bay Port Authority, HMCS GRIFFON, Canadian Coast Guard Cutter Cape Challion, cargo ships, cruise ships, fishers, Lakehead Tugboats, Thunder Bay Tugs, ship’s agents: Lake Superior Shipping and Thunder Bay Shipping, and stevedores: Logistec.
We pray for those who care for seafarers: the Mission to Seafarers:
- stations around the world and in Canada;
- The Ven. Dr. Peter Rouch, Secretary-General;
- Archbishop David Edwards, Liaison Bishop for Canada; and
- Rev’d Judith Alltree, Regional Director for Canada; and
the Apostleship of the Sea and the Ministry to Seafarers.
We pray for those in special need.
Much of the Mission’s work is service, driving seafarers and helping them with their needs. Holding the Eucharist and lunch enables us to pray for the Port. It grounds us in our faith, that we are doing the service work on behalf of Jesus and his church. The fellowship during the Eucharist and lunch cares for those who attend, and strengthens their relationships with each other.
